On Saturday, August 15, 2026, Chester Frost Park had three schedules running at once, all listed at 2277 Gold Point Circle North. The free Lakeside Live concert ran from 4 to 9 pm at Shelter 1. At the boat ramp, a Chattanooga Bass Association event was listed from 8 pm that night to 6 am Sunday. The night before, the Chattanooga 115 HP Bass Fishing Series had held the same ramp from 6 pm Friday to 1 am Saturday.
The county's own calendar puts a family concert and two overnight fishing tournaments on the same weekend, in the same park. That says something about how Hixson's lakefront works, and it applies to the creek-side park too. Chester Frost Park and Greenway Farm are two of Hixson's biggest parks for a walk, a paddle or a weekend afternoon. They are run by two different governments, and each has its own calendar, booking rules and front door.
The Lakefront Runs on Club Calendars
Chester Frost sits on Chickamauga Lake and belongs to Hamilton County Parks and Recreation. The county's calendar for the park mixes two kinds of events. Some belong to the parks department. Others belong to clubs that use the park's facilities, and those listings simply say to contact the club.
The August 2026 listings show the split. Parks-run programming included:
- A Jaws movie night at the beach on Saturday, August 8, listed from 3:00 pm to 11:15 pm.
- Lakeside Live on August 15.
- Zoomie Fest on Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Dog Paddle Park, with free games and contests for dogs and their people.
Club activity showed up in the same calendar. The listings include the Chattanooga Bass Association, the Chattanooga 115 HP Bass Fishing Series, the Chattanooga Crappie Club, the Chattanooga Flying Disc Club, and Steez Shack Disc Golf at the Dallas Island Disc Golf Course. One boat ramp listing directs questions to Greg at Talkin' Tackle.
So the county's programming for a weekend is only part of what fills the park. A ramp that looks quiet on a Saturday afternoon can be booked overnight, and a beach movie can share a parking lot with a tournament crowd. The county's calendar is the only place both kinds of event appear together. Visit Chattanooga's listing for the park describes the same mix, noting that the county-operated park hosts fishing tournaments and competitive events alongside the annual Hamilton County Fair. The county's fair page is where dates get posted, so check it before planning around them.
A Park With Two Addresses
Two addresses appear on the county's own pages for Chester Frost, and they point to different places.
The ranger station and camping registration are at 7872 Causeway Road, with hours of 10 am to 5 pm daily. Nearly every event on the county calendar, from the boat ramp to Shelter 1 to the Dog Paddle Park, lists 2277 Gold Point Circle North. Registration goes to Causeway Road. The concerts, movie nights and tournaments go to Gold Point Circle North.
The campground is a large part of why the park's schedule never really pauses. The county's campground page lists 228 recreational campsites and says the park offers year-round camping. Its rules leave little room for guessing. Personal fire pits are not allowed, so fires stay inside the park-provided grills and pits. No linens are provided, so guests bring their own sheets, blankets, tablecloths and towels.
Greenway Farm Runs Under a Different Roof
Greenway Farm is a 180-acre park along North Chickamauga Creek, and the City of Chattanooga operates it. The city lists six miles of trails for walking, running, hiking and biking. It also lists three canoe access points, an off-leash dog park, community gardens, picnic tables and a reservable conference center. The conference center rents for $75 per hour with a two-hour minimum and a $100 deposit.
The park has two entrances, which matters more than it sounds. The main one is off Hamill Road. A visitor review describes that entrance as easy to miss because the sign is overgrown. A second entrance is off Gann Store Road. A Tennessee Trails Association listing for an easy 4.7-mile hike there pairs the paved and graveled main path with the meadow trail along the creek.
The Boy Scout Trail adds another detail. One visitor described it as paved with moderate elevation, leading to an old quarry. According to that review, the limestone mined there went into building the nearby Chickamauga Dam. A locked gate on the trail carries a sign prohibiting swimming and fishing.

Where the Two Calendars Meet
One name appears in both systems. Outdoor Chattanooga is the city division that the city's Greenway Farm page credits with the park's monthly programs. The county calendar lists it as the contact for events at the lower beach area nearest the Jet Ski Ramp at Chester Frost. A city program shows up on a county calendar.
That makes Outdoor Chattanooga the most useful single name to follow. It runs programs on the creek side and appears on the county's lake-side listings, so it links the two parks. Everything else on the lakefront has to be checked with the county, and everything at Greenway Farm goes through the city. Each calendar shows only its own park's events, and a Saturday can look empty on one while the other is full.
A practical routine follows from all this. Check the county's Chester Frost calendar for the ramp and shelter listings, and the city's Greenway Farm page for the trail and program details. Use Causeway Road for camping and Gold Point Circle North for anything with a start time.
